I have started this blog to help keep myself accountable for the amount of clutter and mess I have allowed to take over and effect my home life.
Sometimes keeping the house clean just feels so overwhelming I just want to scream. I keep thinking "My house is so small, why is it so hard to keep clean?" The answer is always the same. We have too much stuff for this little house! So I always thought, "It's this houses fault! If we had a bigger home we wouldnt have so much mess". Honestly, thats true. If we had a bigger house and we only had what we have now then it probably would not be so bad. But the truth is, if we had a bigger home we would, of course, have more stuff and I'd be in an even bigger mess then i am now. I needed to just own up to it. It isnt the houses fault. It's mine!
We have too much stuff! That's the problem. We, infact, have so much stuff that we have to rebuy things because we cant find things we need when we need themleading to even more stuff! How frustrating!
I have worked for days to clean the house only for it to return to chaos within a few short hours. So I have decided that the real problem with my inability to keep the house clean is actually the amount of stuff we have.
Instead of looking at the whole picture (the house) and just feeling totally overwhelmed. I am gonna start with just myself. I'm gonna start decluttering my own stuff one area or project at a time. Once I can say I have completely and totally decluttered everything of mine in the house then I'll start trying to help everyone elsein the family to declutter their stuff too but first I need to start with me by setting a good examle.
So here I am today. This is where I plan to come to help keep myself accountable and record my victories as well as my failings.
